Brita Sigourney went from last to third in the Winter X Games Superpike on her final run, doing the first 1080 in competition in Aspen, Colo. Sigourney, from Carmel, finished second last year in the Winter X games in the Superpike. Last year she also won the Dew Tour in Ogden, Utah.

Local soccer team makes state finals

Twelve soccer players who have been together since age 6 are playing at an elite level in the state tournament as an 11-under squad. The Monterey County Futbal Club Warriors reached the highest plateau this weekend, taking part in the State Cup finals in Sacramento.
